Exile

Exile

A Poem by Lydia

I just want to go fast
Faster than they say you should
Until all the trees together
Blurring look like they never stood alone
Teach me to avoid my flesh
All its foolish hunger
Strip me of it all
I want to feel as different as I am inside
Take me to the water's edge
And drown me
Take it from my lungs but not my heart
Instead please shatter that with a single stroke
Violent in its gentleness
A cascade of broken glass
Cutting from the inside
Give me no comfort
Send me away
With nothing but my scars
