Exultation

Exultation

A Poem by Lydia

Already I am so much like the hurricane
Gale force winds come to blow your house down
This vortex I have created extols you
I have been feeding you small pieces of me

Just like the spider, I crawl down your throat each night
To stitch my web to your windpipe
And in the morning, your tongue
Oh how it spills its silk back at me
Ever containing a piece of my efforts

I bathe in you, as if discovering the will to wash clean
Creating myself new saying,
There is no lack of beauty in the past
Can you feel me call to you like the pull of the moon?

I will soak you in my tide and slam you with such force
Lifting you up high above the shore
Drowning you in power
Exalting your name

I will reach down in the deepest trenches
In the darkest places I will not fail to honor you
Dignify you the eye of the storm
