Alone/Together

Alone/Together

A Poem by Lydia

All the nooks in this town are full tonight,
the ones that were empty only a month ago,
the coat closets and cots, the lot of them stood alone,
quiet and lonely,
like me.

Now, the windows are alight before the stars,
there is nowhere to hide here, all of the cars wait in line
and I slowly decide that under the sky,
we will be laid bare
and even the ink we've bled for
and hammered into our skin
disappears, leaving us clean,
like the day we were born.

There is power in my moon,
I only ask
and the Universe allows me
I use her to pull you in
closer, I see
the age in your face
my spirit is timeless,
I do not die.

There is no original sin, only original sinners
and they are now few and far between.
The days have come, we are no longer
stuck in the middle but propelled outward,
hurtling through space
with nothing to grasp but our own hands
together.

Alone, two people, you and I.

Above lines were honest and original, the whole read was good...but above lines were essence of your poem. Good job my friend
