FourthA Chapter by MayFalling starsWhen I close my eyes I can only see you. It torments me, being so far apart. On the nights I cannot sleep, as you plague my dreams, I sit by the window, a candle in hand, and I look over the village. I know that in the morning, my father will have another suitor, but I only want to visit you again. Why are you not in my bed? Why won’t you kiss me goodnight? One day, we will go dancing to the sound of silence under a thousand stars. The moon will light up your porcelain skin with an iridescent glow. You will look like an angel, your silver hair a halo around your head. I will ask you to make a star fall from the sky. I will hang it from a string, and keep it by my heart, forever and always. Because you are a star, my turtle dove. That is how I will remember. - Poppy © 2020 May |
