I'm Glad for the InternetA Poem by VanI'm glad for the internet. I'm glad that it allows you to find information from across the globe. I'm glad that it connects you to different people from different parts of the world. I'm glad that it entertains me when I have nothing else to do. I'm glad that it allows me to introduce myself to a whole plethora of different things and people. And I'm glad that it can make me annonymous when I want it too. Sometimes the world of men is a cold one. No one wants to hear your sad stories. No one cares to listen to your cries. They are too busy. They have their own lives. They just can't understand how important something is to you. Sometimes those you think are close to you feel at a loss. They don't know how to handle what you tell them. They don't know how to understand what you feel. They misunderstand. They take light what weighs heavy in your heart. But in the electronic world of the internet, There is always someone who will listen; There is always someone who will understand; There is always someone who would know what to do And help you get through the dark tunnel you are traveling. They don't have to be the same people. They don't even need to know who you are. But with each experience you go through, There is always someone who shares the same fate; There is always someone who shares the same thoughts; There is always someone who understands. That's why I'm glad for the internet. Because when I feel so alone sitting in a room with friends who do not understand my pain, I can always find someone out in the world who has been through what I've gone through; Who has lost what I have lost; Who knows me more because s/he does not know me; And who does not define me by how I was before this moment. © 2011 VanAuthor's Note
