Shriveled Heart

Shriveled Heart

A Poem by Moonbug

Shriveled little heart in my hand
Why do you bother still to beat?
You cling to me, refusingly,
Unwilling to admit defeat.
Sometimes I wrap my fingers around and squeeze
Just to feel your pulse on high-speed.
When I try to peel you off, you bleed
Profusely and
Leave me with a mess to clean.

Shriveled little heart, all flesh and blood,
Don't you know you're just a dud.
If you stay, you'll just decay.
What else could I possibly do with you,
Besides throw you away?
