The tree

The tree

A Poem by moonbeam40
"

nature.

"

The purpose of the tree is manifold,

the reason for its being here is told

all trees that grow they are of the bough

and on all branches leaves he did endow

oxygen from these leaves doth flow

to help the earth and all within it grow

to sustain life in all its many varied forms

every species in existence ever born

the trees they grow in all their majesty

are there for every sighted eye to see

producing fruits and nuts for one and all

which by their very nature they do fall

on to the ground were they abound

for every creature to be found

they also house the wildlife families

birds build their nests,to hatch their young,

its where their songs are often sung

and up their trunks the squirrels run

to gather nuts, and bask in the sun

they are not there at will to be felled

these majestic trees that serve you all so well, nature will do this task very well

The only time you may fell a tree

is if it is over ridden with disease

they must stay and serve their natural

span, and not be hewn, by greedy human hands,

and of these trees you must take great care

when nature stops all the fruits they bear,

just prune them back and leave them there,

throughout the winter for them to prepare

next seasons fruits for all to share.

Without the tree, you would not be.

Sometimes us humans have no real concept of beauty and creation, and how important our nature is, and here you touch on the beauty of tree's, as if they are the humans giving and sharing, all through their lives, and your writing makes them come alive ~ beautifully done.

moonbeam, i love trees... they are not only beautiful but do so much for us and the birds and squirells ( not spelled right the little animals with furry tail who eat acorn- i thought i could spell squrells)
This poem is like an ode to the tress and know they would love all you have written.
Nice knowing you here and thank you for your reviews:)

This poem works so well at describing just how important trees are. I guess they're something that we overlook or don't think about too much until they're gone. I really miss them when I'm in London - acres of dirty concrete and not a bit of greenery in sight. There's more life in the desert!

What I particularly like in this poem is how you've explored every aspect of the subject. From the scientific, "oxygen from these leaves doth flow" to food, "fruits and nuts for one and all" and shelter, "birds build their nests". This then makes it much more persuasive when you point out how we should care for them much more than we do.

This seems to be a very personal poem and I detect an air that you clearly care deeply about the subject.
