Morning Glory

Morning Glory

A Poem by prettybretty

Scattered across my bedroom floor
With my June Christy records
Sitting with my pastel phone
Today it's my best friend
Tomorrow we could end
But still it's better than being alone

I sigh and look out the window
To see a world other than my own
And I witness the morning glory in all its proud glory
And you can see it in the whole world's story

I can't figure out these crossword puzzles
Might as well see what's on the television
Yesterday it was Ann Dvorak
And today it's Kim Novak
And tomorrow it may very well be just some hack
Trying to sell me a magic vacuum
But I'm just not falling for his act

I guess this is what they mean by
Meshes of the afternoon
Where you just want to fast-forward through all of the gloom
And you go out to dinner though you won't be a winner
A night at the opera and then you come home
And waiting for you is the morning glory
And you know he's going to show you the road home.
