Yellow

Yellow

A Story by prettybretty

"It hurt so much", tearfully and crackly my weak little voice confides.

"I know.  But I'm here with you," he tells me.  His shirt's white
and I think of angels.

"They thought I wasn't good enough", I cry and fall into him
shamefully.  His skinny arms support the weight of my body.

In my sadness I never noticed the heavy rain chilling me like ice.  In the middle of the empty street.

But I don't need a real umbrella when the shelter lies
in others, like this beautiful human being.

And I don't need a blanket other than his security.

When I woke up, I saw that I'd passed out and there was a note, reading:

"You were barely able to walk but I helped you home.
Look, despite the fact I don't know you and never will,
you ought to remember we're living in a beautiful world."

I looked out and the sun was yellow in its brilliance.
