A Poem by prettybretty

2 / 5 / 1998

it's been a long, long time
since i saw you last
if there is no future
& no past
why am i asking you to come back?

i will not cry i will not bleed
i will not die i will not speak of cotton candy
but maybe i won't sleep
i will not talk of eternity
don't know what i believe
all i know is

the happiness, the LA beach,
the tragedy mixed in our drinks
the FUN the metal the trashing hotels
making faces in photos
that time you were wasted on the roof
the laughter we could not keep to ourselves
the warmth in their eyes

then the kids lined up in the streets
i could not forget the helplessness
of their cries or their falling
down on the concrete

i will not look up to the sky
for what is already inside
all i know is everything
all i know is nothing

i'm just so glad you were here
the times we all had,
how could i ever feel sad about that?

(i will not ask why
i will not--believe in good-byes)
