Hard Candy

Hard Candy

A Poem by prettybretty

sometimes i stumble and
feel myself fall.
sometimes i scribble
madly on the walls.
sometimes my walk
slows to a crawl.
well, most of the time.
but sometimes
i find you in midnight
and thus remember
how to smile.  my hard-candy
mask softens, melts.  i see
my true self again.
and though i lose my way,
you give me voice to say.
and though i lose my way,
i know that you will always stay.
right here in the candy heart,
the teddy-bear arms, and
the purple-flower soul
of the child that is me.
and though i felt myself fall,
it was broken just in time
for me to land
on the cloud of your smile.
and though my life seemed empty,
you were worth it all.
(i needed to confirm if i existed)
