The Mirror

The Mirror

A Poem by prettybretty

You think everyone with a moustache looks like Salvador Dali.
'Cause everyone's the same.
(I pity your surrealist world)
And you think Andy Warhol discovered America.
Exposing the truth about fame.
(I pity you, factory girl)
But you?
You are always looking for someone else to blame.
You think the mirror refers to a Russian film.
Because you cannot look at your own face.
Like Liv Ullmann whispering and crying.
You may be beautiful, at that--but you've grown bitter with age.
(I pity your reliance on others)

Atomic, nuclear weapon...you hold in contempt the human race.  But really, the truth is, you are a devastated civilian left in the debris of Nagasaki, looking for a home.
(In the memory of what has been destroyed)
