3 short betrayals

3 short betrayals

A Poem by prettybretty

oh boy, i thought you were the world.
but glitter does not make gold.
i'm glad for your time.  but not for
your crime.  you were made of glue
instead of spine.

oh sugar sweet, said you'd never leave
did you think you could break me?
not even in two, much less three.
but i wasn't worth goodbye or apology?
you no longer make a difference to me.

oh C, don't you see?
i said i don't let anyone mess with me.
not anymore.  you should just leave.
for good.  i'm tired of long leaves
and empty apologies.

what's 5 months?
what's more than that?
what's almost a year?
my life's ahead of me.
i've got so much to see.
i am the book and you were a leaf.

still, i thank you.
in the end, it only benefits me.
this is where i should be.
