I will never again even try

I was getting over this guy, and then something reminded me of him, this poem basically describes that moment.

I was drowning...

-but-                      

for just a moment I could SWIM!

-so-

I took it as a sign

'hey MAYBE I can win!'

-then-

I THOUGHT of him

committed the immortal sin

I ran out of rivers

like snakes my tears

began their slithers

down my cheeks

they bit my heart

from there my life split apart

the poisons in

because of him

I was wrong I cannot win

I like your simile "my snakes like tears began their slithers down my cheeks" is powerful. This "him" must be a really mean dude for him to make you feel like "you cannot win". Or maybe you admire him so much that you cannot win. This could have multiple meanings!
