Words Read Goodbye

Words Read Goodbye

A Poem by M O R P H I N E

I barricade my feelings behind this torn soul
searching for a meaning to this all
lost in confusion
so I retreat back into the darkness
there, I fasten myself to sleep
hoping I don't wake up and
face reality again
because I'm not that strong anymore
once you've grown up you know
a little too much than you should have known

Innocence no longer exists
I'm walking on a filthy floor
rotting away like I was before
I didn't come here to socialize and catch up
I've only come here to leave my goodbyes
I'm saying the world doesn't need me around
I'm relaying the truth of what goes on inside

Bury your ears onto my chest
try your best to hear my pain manifest
into an abyss of blackness
where only sadness remains
a mourning soul ripped to shreds
only praying for better days

I didn't come here to socialize and catch up
I've only come here to leave my goodbyes
Close your eyes, count to five
don't you get it?
This is where I die.

The poem is telling a part of a larger story. I could feel the disappointment in the words. I like the story and the repetition in the poem. Sometime we can chose our demise. But life is fair. We can gather strength and try to go forward. A excellent poem.
