This Boy

This Boy

A Poem by M O R P H I N E

He woke up that morning
And ran a cold bath
His body was blistered with that days skin grafts
The mirror was mocking; as himself, he watched
The clock sounded loudly
As the day slowly passed

A cup filled with coffee
Three sugars on the side
This boy is so beautiful; he’ll say that you’re lying
He leaves out the back door
And off he will go
Where does he run to; nobody knows

He can a strum a guitar
And sing you a song
He can dance like star
And write you a poem
He smiles like an angel
But he hurts deep inside
Yet what he is hiding, he fails to let rise

I know he’s alone
The eyes always tell
He says he’s okay
But I know him too well
This boy is so beautiful, but he’ll say that you’re lying

He’s so beautiful, and yet he is dying

amazingly well done

The symmetry in your phrasing and rhyming is beautiful, and plays well from stanza to stanza as well as cultivates the story. I think that you've done a beautiful job of balancing an idea with a style and let it roll out in a resonating style.
Very, very nicely written.
