Afraid to See...A Poem by Shaunta R. Edwardsfor a dear friend...I find myself afraid to look... see those empty eyes. Eyes that once held such a fire... Something deeper no longer Beneath the Surface. Unable to discern where the line started to fade. Drowned it out and Push it further into your veins... Unveil your self infliction. An addiction to Contradiction. A body lacking soul... Afraid to see your nothingness... Yet so desperate so desperate to see Something. Intensity shrunken down behind your Golden Plunger. Melted away and cooked up. I feel our distance growing. Only knowing what used to be... Basking in mutual agony. Letters written in shadow. Now fading memories... Times of simplicity, yet so complex. My only sanctuary at the time... Only knowing your words. All that remains are these broken skeletons... The phone lies... Unanswered. Never a reply... Hours becoming days. Days fading into months. So desperate to always be the villian... Only able to save yourself... This destiny forseen. Your becoming... Your everything is nothing. © 2010 Shaunta R. Edwards |
