Across the KingdomA Poem by Domenic Stewart
Early dawn a farmer boy will rise, to do chores that will make him strong as he ages but not quite wise. The cows and chickens doing what they do best, while the boys patience the pigs did test. His father in the field cutting hay, to sell and make money to eat with the next day. The fathers wife making the milk, and later that night enjoying her one garment of good silk.
In the church the bells ring, and all the choir will sing. Criers will spread the word, and the practitioners shall be undeterred. Come one come all, the church shall embrace each and lift them should they fall. The preacher tells his flock a tale, of a great religious hero named De Bayle. And as services come to a close, the church still slyly smiles to he and she who knows. Entering the barracks, one can hear the sounds of weapons on targets with audible "SMACK!"'s. The knights training hard, and the squires way of progress is slowly unbarred. To defend the honorable and innocent, the knights protect good people from the malcontent. When done they wipe the sweat from their brows, now off to their bunks to drowse. In the castle are the Queen and King, who decide on each new thing. The Queen in all her splendor, sporting the newest fashion decor. The King in all his glory, hoping that he is fondly remembered in story. Working to rule the kingdom, with fairness and wisdom. © 2015 Domenic Stewart |
