Chapter 3

I soon fell asleep and dreamt of Diarmuid. His eyes were what I saw
and only that. My first nightmare. His eyes filled with tears and soon they
started to fade and I saw him wave one last goodbye when all went black.
When I awoke panting and sweating I tried to look around to familiarize
myself with my new surroundings, but all was pitch black. There were no
lights, not a single candle or any form of life that I was aware of.

I began to weep, thinking all was lost and then I stopped and started
to close my eyes. I was in some sort of meditation form and was
concentrating hard as I could on light. Pure, good, white light. I was shaken
from my trance and felt a strange sensation.

I stood quickly, but cautiously and held out my hand and stared at it
though I could not see, and slowly ever so gently, I started to gain sight. I
saw a flicker that left as quickly as it came and then another. Finally a full
burst of light was streaming from my hand, I felt it swarming around me
filling my soul filling my eyes, filling... THE ROOM!

I could see! The room was bright but nothing in it was special. It was similar to the dungeon room I had been in with Diarmuid, but it was bigger and had the faintest glow not from me, but something I just couldn’t put my finger on.

I suddenly heard a cough. I stopped dead in my tracks at the sound
and slowly turned around.

In the far corner of the room sat a women of about 40. She was so ill looking
you could have mistaken her for a 100 year old woman. I approached her with
caution and once I arrived to her corner of the room I knelt down and
looked at her for a short moment. She sat there staring into space as if not
noticing me there.

"Ma’am,?" I said questioningly. " Ma’am are you o.."

"Shh.." she interrupted."They might hear you"

"Who?," I said in a more quiet tone to keep her calm.

"The guards of course!"she then turned and looked at me strangely.

"Where did you come from? Who are you?" She lost her hushed tone with each question.

"I um...My name is Lunaria?" I said. It was more of a question than an answer.

"Your lips...They.. " she stopped and backed away. " It can’t be. Your
dead. The Admiral," she spat at his name."He killed you at birth and... and."
she shook her head for a long time as if traumatized by the sight of me.
Then she smiled and ran toward me enveloping me in a her arms. " I knew
you’d come back to me."

"Who are you." I asked startled by the woman’s strange behavior.

"You can’t feel it? I am your mother, Luna." The woman must of had
me confused with someone else.

"I’m sorry ma’am. You must be mistaken. I don't have a mother. I’ve lived
here my whole life, well, until recently, but I’m afraid I’m not your daughter."

"Yes, you are." she whispered. "You have had strange things happening
to you haven’t you? Oh, and without me my child! I’m sorry." she started to
nod her head."Yes. I can feel it. Have you made strange things happen, anything
you couldn’t explain. Ha... Have you walked through walls yet? Hmm?"

Walls? Walls! Oh my gosh. I had walked through walls that day I helped Diarmuid
escape.

"How do you know this?" I asked. "How could you possibly know?" I was
furious now, I didn’t know what I was going to do. This woman, she knew
about my skills. Maybe, just maybe, she was my... my...mother. No it couldn’t
be. No, I had no mother. Did I?

"My Luna, I knew you’d come to save us. The kingdom is in peril you
must help us get out of here! All the prisoners."

"Hold on, I can’t save a whole kingdom! Besides, there is only a
drought, nothing more. It will be over soon I’m sure.

No my child. No. This drought will not pass. The power behind it will
not die. Not without you." she whispered, shaking her head. I was about to
respond when the chamber door opened with fiercesome creek.

"The Grand Admiral has requested an audience with the child. He
wishes to speak with you, girl." A tall dark looking guard exclaimed. Without
a word I got up and headed for the door. I had to confront Victor. For once I
had great pain in my heart because of what he had turned away from.

I walked into the room pointed out to me by the guard. That’s when I
saw him. This man, this creature that had locked me away from the outside
world, locked me away from a family , away from love. I was so overwhelmed
with pain that I screamed at him with the strongest of anger I could force
out of me.

" You, you evil , terrible, Cretan. You tore me from life. You putrid, sad
excuse for a man."

" It’s lovely to see you too." he retorted almost untouched by my
harsh words." Tell me child, how did you ever manage to do it?"

"Do what? I don’t what your talking about, and even if I did I wouldn’t
tell you. You took me away from my life."

"I’ve done no such thing," he exclaimed in such a baffled manner you’d
swear he didn’t comprehend my words." I’ve been protecting you all these
years, you have been safe."

"Safe? Safe! You deprived me of even an ounce of happiness, of
friends and family. I had no one and nothing."

"That is not true!" He proclaimed." I’ve had many things of great value
given to you ."

"Material things are nothing to me. I needed love you fool." I stopped
when I got a look that shocked me. It was an evil cold stare that killed me
inside and suddenly I had the fiercest of headaches. Victor was controlling
my physical feelings somehow.

"I take it you just became aware of the power around you. " Victor
started." You see, the glowing you may have noticed coming from the walls is
magickal; All the walls in the castle now, have had a binding spell placed upon
them. Binding spells, you see, do pretty much what you’d think, they bind
people or objects to them. They are binded to me. This way, there’s no way
for you or that wretched hag down there to escape."

"Why are you doing this to me?" I cried in a now hushed tone."I never
did anything to hurt you. I never misbehaved. All I did was sit in that
despicable tower of yours and pretend life was just what was inside these
walls!" My voice, now a bit louder and more threatening, came as a surprise to
The Admiral. The look on his face was stern and angry, but I saw past that
anger into his soul, and what I saw was fear. He was afraid of me.

"I know why you spelled this place. It wasn’t just because you wanted
us contained. Your intimidate by my power. You know what I am capable of
and you know that this simple spell cannot do anything but reflect my power.
Not the smartest idea, I’d say. If I wanted to kill you right now with the
flick of my wrist you couldn’t do much of anything about it." I said with a
disgusted but curious look on my face.

" Explain before I incinerate you."This caught the attention of the guards standing on the balcony and those just at the doors of the room. The men apprehended me but did not take me away as I expected them to.

" Did you really think I would have you here without expecting you to
attack. Of course, I am a bit surprised you didn’t see the guards coming."
With that he gave a sinister laugh that filled me with more anger than I had
ever felt for a person before I began to feel warm with hate. Or was it more
than that. Yes, it was.

My whole body began to grow a bright red and my eyed changed as
well. The guards tried to keep a hold of me but it was no use. The heat
radiating from my body was too intense. Then a spark flew from my
fingertips and with the most sinister of smiles on my face I blasted away
the guards with a strong burst of white fire. This was the hottest flame the
world could have imagined experiencing.

As the screams of the guards died (after throwing themselves into a
water bucket like fools),Victor’s eyes grew as he backed away from me, but
I had no control over myself, as much as I despised him I wasn’t a killer. I
just couldn’t control what I was about to do.

To my surprise, a pack of men came out holding a glowing net and
tossed it over me. At first I tried to attack not effected at all by the net.
Then, I felt it. It was searing anguish, I screamed in agonizing pain and slowly
I returned to my normal self, and as I began to fade into unconsciousness I
heard myself say.

" I didn’t...mean...it....im....sorry..." When I awoke , I was in my room in
the tower. Everything was just as I had left it. Even the books flung across
the floor from the days before when I escaped were in the precise spot
they had landed. It hit me then that I would be stuck there once again.

" I must make use of my time.. get things back to normal." I said to
myself. I had to forget Diarmuid. I knew there was no escaping. Not now.
Not with all this security. I needed to forget. Then, I felt this warm sensation in my head again.

"Oh no." Magick. It was happening again. I knew what would happen. I
would do what I wanted to. I was going to forget. In a burst of light my
memories of life outside this castle, life with Diarmuid vanished before my
eyes. In one last desperate cry to take it all back it was gone.

I woke up in my room and played with my dolls like I would on any
normal day at the castle. Completely oblivious to anything previous that gave
me even an ounce of happiness before, I returned to my normal, pathetic
lifestyle.

"Hello princess," I said speaking once again to my only companion, the
little doll in my toy castle."We’ll get you out of here I promise." Then,I put
my doll away like I did everyday. I sat and stared wide eyed, noticing
how much larger the crack in my tower wall had gotten. I went to peek out
of it when my door creaked open. It was Victor.
