Noelani Ara

Noelani Ara

A Chapter by Tara♥Undefined♥

As the girl walked in her tip tap pattern she listened to the voices of the rain. The voices told stories of old things and new. They held things of hardships and numbers of times that they had fallen from the sky to see those who had cried for themselves.

They all were different but similar in the way that they all spoke of pain and misery. Not one happy memory lied in the pitter patter of the rain today. The girl knew this far too well.

She could hear the rain speak ever sice she was a small child. She heard things that the rain heard. She saw things the rain saw. No matter how scary or happy or sad. She could connect with the rain's tainted perfection. She could feel the power and the essence of each tiny drop.

She was different from the others in this world. She was completely alone. The only one that remained of her kind. She alone would have to save the innocent no matter what they thought of her. She had the power and she would either use it for good or for nothing and have to live with the emptiness inside her.

She was the savior, she was the light. She was Noelani Ara: the listener.

It was a cold, dark night when I met Noelani. A woman, about 25 years old, fell screaming at my doorstep.

"What is it ma'am?" I asked, but my question was answered when I looked at her pregnant belly. " Are you having the baby?" I asked as I tried unsuccesfully to carry her inside. " I'm gonna get you help ok." I told her, but as I went to get the phone it began to rain, the line went dead and her screaming ceased.

"As I went back to see if she was ok I realized she was gone. The only trace left being a bundle that contained a baby and a note. The note read"

You have shown me great kindness.

For that I am greatful.

I could sense all the good things you have done and will do in the future.

Please Take care of my baby. Raise her as your own.

And promise me that you will never tell her about this day.

          - Mother

I didn't know anything about this woman or where she had came from, but I could feel the magic surrounding me and the baby, so I I kept her Mother a secret and never spoke of that day.

I named her Noelani so that I could keep the memory of that magical day with me always. It meant misty rain.

Wow that was very exhilarating to read about rain from one's different perspective. A great opening to a new story and so much potential. I also like the foreshadowing at the beginning of this story it makes me want to read straight to the end. Please continue!!!!
