The Dream

Last night I had a dream

In the dream you were there

And we were happy

Smiles, hugs and kisses

Filled the room as we lay there

Together

Not a care in the world

Except for one another

Alone together, just us

You held me tight, loving me

Your love encircled me

Caressing my body

We lay together

So much in love

So strong, so alive

Our eyes locked

Enticing, inviting, comforting

So warm, so happy

We kissed, and electricity shot through us

Joining us

Two hearts as one

Connected

 

Then a cold blast seized the room

And the warmth was gone

The temperature kept dropping

Down,

          Down,

                     Down,

Until you were as cold as ice

So very cold

I shivered

Your heart slowed

Mine sped up

You looked right through me

Icicles formed on my face as I cried

No longer caressing

No longer hugging

Scared, shivering

I screamed your name

I reached out for you

Reached right through you

You were not there

I tried to grab you

But you were gone

And I was alone
