Watch Out- Says the Woods-A Poem by Monday ParkerI have this creeping feeling that someone is out to do me harm. I feel the energy around me, this warning in the song of birds…Even the constant rushing whisps of the bay’s chilled air it whispers twisted words of terror to come. Come away Leave this place, which is cold anyway It is as if steal bars An icy doctors’ table These heartless people here are like elephant skin So rough Protected against the agony of others pain They could stand next to a man while he gets murdered and robbed In front of their wide watching eyes And their feet Their feet wouldn’t even shuffle Not move an inch Until the madness was gone, Stepping over the spilling pile of blood, Over the small rivers They just look Watch Then turn and walk away …. no descriptions No, nothing to say To the ….police But the block knows Harboring their criminals By fear…Even their hearts are wrapped with elephant skin No kind words for anyone…Every one is a adversary they say with a gleam in their eyes Why would they welcome a new comer? With anything other than spitting game Their scam Anything that will put a dollar in their pocket Even if it comes out of mine, Even better if it comes out of mine. No wonder nature here warns for me to leave….to run I come from the forest…Born and raised I have it in my blood… Bee charmer I am not like them And the birds know Warning me with the hawks stare Run away, they say Woman raised in the evaluation of the Indian clay Escape, they say back to where it is safe
