Quacking Princess

Quacking Princess

A Poem by Monday Parker

Pampered

Princess

Poised on her pedestal

Pretending that

The face of her childhood was not hers

That now after the

Duckling left her side

Pretty was all she ever was

I see past her slick motions

Past the real face

She paints everyday

I see her for who she is

And I still hear the duck quacking…

Wow! How subtle and a straight-at-you slap in the face. Beauty is indeed skin deep (the physical kind anyway). A great write. Stated very well. Bravo.

let me see if i got this right...she turned beautiful on the outside yet ugly on the in? beautiful especially for a short poem, straight to the point and good flow
