Pawn

Pawn

A Poem by Monday Parker
"

A poem

"

A push and pull we both play

He swings and I teeter

I shove and he rocks on his heals

A game without rules

and winner takes all

He has his queen

Tucked safely away in his castle

I stand with the wind on my face

In the open air of a battle field

Playing a game I cant win.

I'm minded of the tag line from the amazing 1980's movie War Games - when the AI computer 'learns' about the folly of war - it says (paraphrasing here) - "A strange game...The only winning move is not to play!"

You effectively convey how 'love' must be for some. I hope it wasn't a self portrait.

Enjoyable read. I like the visual (or tactile) of the open air of the battlefield. Very nice.
