Light Eyed Stranger

Light Eyed Stranger

A Poem by Monday Parker

We stood smoking cigarettes

In the almost summer sun

That’s when I noticed him

For the first time

Standing a bit to close

Looking at me directly

Eye to eye

Smile quick and welcoming

That’s when I first noticed him

Fireflies of awaking

Interest sparked

Tall

Light eyed

stranger
