Crackling

Crackling

A Poem by Monday Parker

My fires are crackling and burning

While yours are sputtering and growing cold

Engulfing in a new direction.

You took whatever flammable I had

Swallowed it and

Moved on

While I stand on charcoal soil

Shivering and reaching for the

Warmth you once gave me.
