New York

New York

A Poem by Monday Parker

The idea to see you again

Was mouth watering

Face from the past

A friend

Even though I always wanted more…

Always

I remember our long talks.
Sitting for hours in

The chilled bay area nights

Conversations over alcohol

I had a trembling lust for your

New York accent and freckled arms

Swagger and confidence

So much personality

Always drew me in.

One of the

The coolest people I have ever met

Still

Years later- You have been in my thoughts

Broad shoulders with blue eyes

Good use of details to paint a word picture of someone that's dreamed about and/or longed for. We all have someone like this in the back of our minds, so your message is very relatable. In most cases, your word choices are unique & fresh, but one word feels a little flat: "alcohol" (I just prefer more specificity, like "long island teas" or some such memorable detail). Fondly, Margie
