A Game To Win

A Game To Win

A Poem by Monday Parker

What are you doing with me?

Playing a game no one will win

With emotions as fire…

My fire

That has the potential to burn hot and long

You could be the one

But for you

This is only for entertainment

Leaving me each week with

An ache for more

Only holding on to anxieties and solitude

An isolation that has taken its toll

Not whispers in the dark

Or sweet sentiments

No butterflies of newness

What kind of game is this?

To toy with my moods

You pull me in

Push me out

Are you having fun?

Because I am not.

Is this a game you can win?
