Suspending On The Balance Beam of Your Words

Suspending On The Balance Beam of Your Words

A Poem by Angelheaded Hipster
"

eyes up on the butterfly

"

"If things were different"

If things were

like you said

I wouldnt be sitting

here contemplating

on why I hang onto

the words that drip

off the lips that Ive

tasted on more than

one stolen occasion

If things were like water

I would never go thirsty,

never go a day without

drinking my fill of what

lies in your head

If things were like food

I would never go hungry,

never go a day without

getting fed of the laughs

and the smiles that play

along the freckles of your face

If things were different indeed

I wouldnt be filled with conflicting

wants and desires, like an oscillating

fan on high in the hot southern summer

days, dripping with cold drops given

off the frozen bottle of whatever

poison I happen to be drinking.

We all want the other who will drip gorgeous words
like good gravy into our mouths.
It could happen---

Amber, the "things" that never become different, lay their weight against the force of who we would become, if things were different...
