Patience and Love

It seems to be

          the only one

who’s impatient is me

          yet I know

                   it’s not so

 

It’s depressing to find

I don’t know my own mind

I believed myself

          Ready for love

Only to discover

I’d happily wait for another

          Not person

                   But time

 

I continually wonder

If ‘twas my imagination

Faith in the Lord

Keeps my sanity whole

 

I should have known

He’d hand me

          Love and patience

          On the same platter

 

I’ll happily wait

          For him to come home

          For when we’re both ready

With our youth

          Missions finished

To start the rest

          Of our lives

                   Together

For all time and eternity
