Don't Leave Me

Don't Leave Me

A Poem by Dream Fairy

As I gaze into the depths of your eyes

I realize how much I care for you

So I ask of you

Please don’t leave me here all alone

It scares me to think of you

Following in his footsteps

We are strong, you and I

The love and friendship we once shared

Should it be allowed to flow again

Could make us stronger still

Please understand

Just take my hand

And please don’t leave me here all alone

You may decide I’m out of place

If that’s how you feel

I’ll accept that

Drugs don’t strengthen you

Your body maybe

But remember your mind

As usual I’m nosey

I’m just as fragile as ever

So you know what would happen

Should you leave

Whether mentally or physically

The pain would be the same

Not even the love another offered

Could piece me back again

The hope of our survival

Was part of the glue and

Even now I find more fragments

…of myself

To pick up and replace

But by myself, I couldn’t do it

Regardless of what you think

We are connected

Our years together

…the three of us…

Affected us all

You became less hard, kinder,

More flexible;

I became less penetrable

I donned a more protective shield

And him?

He balance our personalities

The again

This could all be the ravings

Of a broken woman

One who has become

A lost child once again

I beg of you

Please don’t leave me here all alone
