When I Was....

When I Was....

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

My timeline

"

When I was fifteen confusion reigned

When I was twenty thought I knew all,

freedom to be myself, if I figured out who

When I was twenty-five had questions with no answers,

but I had years to search and plenty of time

When I was thirty I was happy domestically

When I was thirty five my life changed forever, violently;

when I was forty I followed a grim routine

When I was forty five the world still made sense

When I was fifty I thought America was back

When I was fifty three everything exploded

When I was fifty seven normalcy returned,

Yet exsisted no longer; my beliefs turned upside down

Now I'm sixty and the future’s yet to be written

Author's Note

Michael Stevens
When I was 35 my life changed radically, violently, as I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury, which resulted in my not being able to walk or talk normally. Up until the rise of Trump I thought I understood society, but since, I understand nothing
