500 Days--"Watch You Disappear'

500 Days--"Watch You Disappear'

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Tribute To Dad

"

Verse:

Sad, helpless, and sadder still, is how I feel,

I buried my head in sand and wished it wasn't real

Watching your essence fly into the setting sun

It's become obvious that your world's come undone

Pre-Chorus:

The sad and bitter truth can no longer be denied

As your tether to reality recedes like the outgoing

tide

Verse:

Memories of better days blinded my eyes

to the effects of this disease I've come to despise

So very sad to see your dimming light,

to watch you slip into the eternal night

Pre-Chorus:

Remember, Dad, the better times not so long ago?

Where you're headed now, you'll have to go alone

Chorus:

Slowly, but not so slowly, I watch you disappear

Watch you face the inevitable, watch you face the

fear

I'm left battling moments I wish I could take back,

it's hard for all of us, but this is an inescapable fact

Verse:

Dark clouds in my eyes as I watch you

wage war

It isn't close to fair as I hear the echo of the

slamming door,

to all in your life, our lives, before everything

changed

Now left to deal with the aftermath of a reality

rearranged

Repeat 1st Pre-Chorus:

Repeat Chorus:

END
