Down Comes The Hammer

'We're going the WRONG way!'

Pull the lever, and down comes the hammer.

A self-imposed punishment sent all of us to the slammer.

Those of us who foresaw what was coming,

still have to pay, have to watch some people succumbing.

Down comes the hammer on free speech and free thought,

in part--where is the democracy I used to know? Not

with this sad, fearful political ideology, not anywhere in sight.

See the sun set into a pitch-black, perpetual night,

where any hint of the dawn is impossible to see. 

Clamping down on our freedoms, is no answer to me.
