The MonsterA Poem by Michael StevensMy own worst enemyPacing,
endlessly, figuratively, and mentally, worried about the future, and what will come to be.
See hidden shadows from the corner of my eye. The monster of self-doubt just out of sight, why
I'm feeling this way, I really couldn't say. this game of self-destruction I'd rather not play.
I'm my own guarantee of failure, it's not helpful at all, feel like the walls are closing in, and my back is against the wall.
I want to look ahead, and stand in the light once again, but all I see are shadows, I'm far away from a win.
