Take a Chill Pill!

Take a Chill Pill!

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Disaster on a loop! The glass half full version

"

I've written a poem about all the troubles we face,

from the point of view of someone scared--now, the case

against hair-on-fire worry--if you watch the news all day long,

you've no choice but to fixate on everything that could go wrong,

they endlessly speculate, to the exclusion of anything good,

about what could happen and will it happen here? Could

our reality disappear in the blink of an eye?

The answer is, 'we just don't know', that is why

you need to stay tuned, twenty four hours a day.

because at any moment, it just might play

out in a way that only they understand. The state of the union

will be revealed

after a quick break to tell us about erectile dysfunction. Yes, they wield

tremendous power to scare the s**t out of common sense,

makes us all frightened, leaving the viewer nervous and tense

Now, I'm not saying we should just bury our heads in the sand,

but that 24 hours a day, and fear, go hand in hand.
