Unlike Father, Just Like Son!

Unlike Father, Just Like Son!

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

This apple fell about three yards over!

"

Glad to hear insanity and stupidity don't run in your family, Junior!

If only we could return to common sense, and the way we were,

but that ship has sailed, the patient is on life support.

Under Junior, insanity and stupidity were our chief exports.

Hickory Dick and Unfunny Rummy were whispering in your ear,

and they were selling paranoia and a whole lot of fear.

Even Papa thinks there was nothing very funny about those two clowns.

He thinks you couldn't see they were letting you down,

a not-so-subtle hint that he would have gone another way,

not thrown our weight around--can anyone say

diplomacy? By your continued listening to those two,

you couldn't pull up before the plane plowed into

the absolute mess the country finds itself in now.

We've got to return to what we were, somehow.
