Off the Rails!A Poem by Michael StevensShot trip!Off The Rails Flying down the track, still in the car, but barely hanging on, one hand clinging tight to reality,
but my grip is almost gone. Reality to the left of me, in the
distance, reality to the right, but I'm looking straight ahead, I
must be quite a sight.
A bug-eyed freak, searching for
myself, searching for the truth, riding the crazy train, getting
short-tempered, but long in the tooth The older I get, the less this
living s**t makes sense. Most things I used to do for fun
are all past-tense.
Like it or not, changes hit me over
time, and over the head. I'm just hanging on to the here and now by a thin piece of thread!
