"Stop, You Thieving B*****d!"A Poem by Michael StevensI've been robbed!I've been mugged, metaphorically,
by a brazen thief, a thief so bold and reckless, he,
or she, or I guess it is, doesn't even care that you know its
name--it figures, correctly, that you'll never catch
up to it. So swiftly does it move, it does its thing, even
before you realize it.
And its thing is robbing you blind,
then laughing like a hyena as it watches you flail
around in stunned silence, "How on Earth can anything move so fast?"
This is the moment I spring my
shocker, 'It's not about a person, it's about time!",
except you probably guessed that by the fourth or fifth line,
so its impact is greatly reduced! I can't fool you--I can never fool you, cause you're not fool-able. You'd think by know
I'd see that, but you ought to know me better
than that by now, I never learn! © 2015 Michael Stevens |
