Trick of the Light?

Trick of the Light?

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

For a departed friend

"

I thought I saw your shadow on the wall

Certainty was a given, but not anymore

There, but now I can't be certain; just a trick of the light?

Were you real?  Did you really exist?

All I've got left is this photograph,

And even in that I no longer trust what I see

Somehow seems paltry for a life well lived

A camera records faithfully what it takes, but you can't trust what it makes you remember.
