Memories; mine?

 

In the half-remembered light of my yesterdays

 

I see nothing but shadows; do I really see them at all?

 

I see memories supposedly belonging to me,

 

But do they really belong to some other guy,

 

The one with a smile on his face and a bright future,

 

Before the stark realities hit him in the gut?

We all have memories hiding in the shadows of maybe a less than pleasurable past. Hoping that we can forget about them as if they never existed, but there's one problem, they're apart of us to the very end whether we decide to bring them into the light, exposing them in the open and taking them for what they are, experiences of being human.
