Fake

Fake

A Poem by Chuck

Give up my world for a swift betrayal
You can’t come clean until you're up against the wall
I have been so in love with you,
But it seems you were just so good at faking it

And baby you got lazy
Lies don't hide themselves

Going through the motions to avoid real life. So you don’t have to feel.
I am every form of devastated
Flipping through memories of you and me
To see I was the only one with feeling

And now with the precious pitter patter of feet
Running through our lives
I love the distraction
from all the confusion and paranoia that fill my floating thoughts
The gift you have given me, can't you do this for him?

You make promise after promise
But when haven't you been vomiting pleasantries?
Say you won’t do this again, say you love me, that you always have.
Tell me who you are. Try.
And I will believe you. Like always.

Will I be heartbroken in the end?
More alone than ever.
The truth always hits me like a ton of bricks,
Next time, I don't think I can get back up.
