DistractA Poem by ChuckI am not sure what I did to deserve This strange sense of loneliness But something keeps nagging me Suggesting I must have done this to myself Even with the consoling arms Of the One I Love around me All my hopes for the future Are changing shape before my eyes Desolation creeps between every supportive syllable I so long for a minor distraction Something to ease the seriousness Of the prospects I undoubtedly face In the sea of smiling faces That bring judgment from every angle What does it say about me That when I need one the most I lack A true Friend?
