NewA Poem by ChuckSymphonically, I am new, and you with me Sweet darkness, no stars under the ceiling Only through the cold window Silent but for breathing, but only just Except, "What are you singing?" An answer, but we keep up whispers to hear only our voices But smile when we spill a secret, or quell one another's insecurities "This girl belongs to that boy." Apologies, and wet faces Before we know it - 1, 2, 3, undone. Fingers intertwined, mine were clinging I cannot let go- "I will always need you" And you know this, and I lean toward the intensity of your comprehension So wonderfully imperfect At ease with our complexity Two clumsy, common beings Each heart keeping time with the other with nothing between us and as if there were nothing around us In our moment I was not lost, and you were understood We were not singularly alone.
"There can never be anyone else."
