20 Lovely ThingsA Poem by Molly GarnetI try to count twenty lovely
things a day Just to remind my contemptuous self
That there are indeed twenty
lovely things in the world But one day I met you And all of a sudden Twenty lovely things a day Became twenty lovely things a
minute And whenever I’m with you They become twenty lovely things
a second It’s like the world lights up at
your fingertips Just like I do It’s like the world knows exactly
who you are And loves every piece of you Just like I do And twenty dull things become
lovely Right before our eyes And do you the best part of it
all? You don’t even realize the spell you're casting You simply laugh and tease and remind
all the dull things in the world That they can be lovely That they already are lovely Even me You’re so damn lovely Lovely and contagious Opening up the blackest parts of
the world And turning them to gold And twenty lovely things a second Don’t add up to a glimpse of a
moment When I’m looking at you And tangling our fingers And I swear you’re the loveliest thing on the planet Only the loveliest thing on the planet Could make twenty dull things sparkle In a second. © 2014 Molly GarnetReviews
