Monsters

Monsters

A Poem by Molly Garnet

We’re all scared of the monsters under the bed

We stay up all night

Praying for just a moment of peace

Just a moment of peace so we can fall asleep

We hide under the covers

As if any demon would turn away

Because a pillow and a few sheets

Stand in the way

Some of us are especially unlucky

The monsters don’t always go away when the sun comes up

The monsters follow us to school

To work

Everywhere

I think we’ve all tried to run away

Sometimes we go down the street

Sometimes we leave the country

Sometimes we drop everyone in our lives

In hopes that the monster is just sticking around

But it never is

The scariest moment comes

When we realize that the monster

Was never under the bed after all

The monsters are always inside of us

Biting at everything we have

Instilling fear into our very cores

Never striking, but always ready

Waiting for the night.

I believe most of have known some sort of fear. Don't forget those monsters hiding in the closet. I enjoyed the poem. You went in many direction. Create thoughts and possibilities.
