You have a flare for mediocrity

You have a flare for mediocrity

A Poem by Molly Garnet

you have a flare for mediocrity

he told her

she knew this

she accepted this

she wanted this

good enough was good enough

you have a flare for mediocrity

he told her

and i’m not hopelessly in love with you

this, she also knew

she was not a romantic

her starry-eyes had long been smoldered

she wanted convenience

not love

you have a flare for mediocrity

and i’m not hopelessly in love with you

he told her

but i doubt i’ll ever leave

that was all she wanted to hear

they could laugh together

and they could drink together

and do what couples full of incurable love would do

but he would never be full of incurable love

and neither would she

they would drift by

in their mediocrity

forever unhappy and dispassionate

but never alone

Sometime laughter and sharing good drink is damn close enough to love. I like the complete poem. A very ending to the excellent poetry.
