Angel

Angel

A Poem by Molly Garnet

A rusty razor on the bedside table
Drops of blood on your hand
You don’t have to be strong and able
Cause, darling, I am.

I’ll pick you up from the ground if I have to,
Carry you close to my heart
You fooled the world with that porcelain smile
You really played the part.

Now that I know the truth, I’m so sorry
That I wasn’t there for you when you needed me to
And now I promise I won’t ever leave your side
I’ll just stay here gently.

When you want to give up
I’ll hold on even tighter
When you fall to your knees
I will be your fire
And make you believe in life again.

When it’s all just too much
I will carry your burden
When you can’t take one more step
And nothing is certain
I will heal your wounds
And I love your scars
They make you beautiful,
They’ve become your heart

And you’re perfect and wonderful
Completely lovable
You don’t have to have faith
I have enough for the both of us
You don’t need to be strong
I promise to earn your trust

Every day is a new sunrise
You don’t see it now
But through my eyes
You’re an angel.
A broken, forgotten angel.
And as it turns out
You're not forgotten, after all.

I like this one. Kinda surprised I'm the first to comment. I liked the beginning a lot. The ending kinda seemed to trail off from the overall theme/flow tho. Might have just been my way of reading it. Either way, it was good.
