What Did You Expect?A Poem by Molly KIs this what you
expected? Did you think you’d
find? A pretty, blonde girl With her head in a
toilet Throwing up slices of
apple And crying to Bon
Iver? Did you think you’d
see? A leggy brunette With rosy, tear
tracked cheeks Contemplating but
never quite Following through? Did you think you’d
hear? The cries of a
handsome boy Scared of presenting In a class full of
people He’d hardly spoken
to? What did you get
instead? A small girl. Just enough to be
noticed But not for more than
a second. Drinking too much and
taking too many. Trying and failing. An unlikable
personality. A face of old mascara
tears. Five-day greasy hair.
And a heart so broken Even you couldn’t fix
it. © 2018 Molly K |
