Apology

Apology

A Poem by Mercedes
"

I'm so sorry. For everything.

"

I am so very tired "

Tired of life, of love,

Of trying to speak

But never being heard.

Pretending to be all right,

But all the while,

Crying inside.

I consider it a gift "

Quite possibly a curse "

To be able to hide

All of my pain from you.

Every time I see you or speak to you,

It kills me just a little more,

Knowing that you can’t see that it hurts.

But to tell you or show you

Would hurt all the more.

No one can see the real me,

Who I hide with all my pain,

And every little thing I feel.

In the shadows where all of me is hidden

I keep my sorrow and regret

Over the stupidest thing I’ve done.

For me, sorry doesn’t cut it,

But those are the only words I can find.

So this I will tell you:

Sorry, for all my mistakes,

But especially I’m sorry

For saying goodbye.
